Type a term into the Search & Redact field, and Redactable finds every instance, grouped by page. Select individual results or redact all matches at once. If you need exact matches only, wrap your term in brackets, and Redactable returns only that word.

Skip manual entry entirely. Upload a CSV file containing your full keyword list, and Redactable will automatically populate your search list. This is especially useful for recurring document types in which the same sensitive terms appear in every file.

Attach a reason to any redaction directly from the results panel. Select from predefined reasons, enter custom text, or apply a FOIA exemption code from a searchable dropdown. Codes like (b)(2) and (b)(3) display on the redacted content itself for clear documentation of every decision.

Each result in the panel includes a three-dot menu with options to select, unselect, or remove all instances of that term from the list. Remove a result, and it won't reappear unless you rerun the search. Click any highlighted result in the document itself to redact or remove it directly from a context menu without navigating back to the panel.

How it Works

Upload your documents

Import from your local drive or pull directly from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, SharePoint, or Clio.

Open Search and Redact

Access it from the top navigation bar or directly inside the Redaction Wizard.

Enter your terms

Type keywords and phrases manually, or upload a CSV with up to 5,000 terms at once. Use bracket syntax for exact matches.

Review and select

Results are populated and grouped by page. Select individual matches or choose Select All. Use the three-dot menu to manage results by instance, or click any highlighted result in the document to redact or remove it directly.

Tag and finalize

Add redaction reasons or FOIA exemption codes to individual results, then click Redact Items. Redactable permanently removes the content, scrubs the metadata and OCR layer, and generates your redaction certificate.
